Tuesday morning I decided to return to Over Owler Tor for the sunrise as I’d been impressed with the heather the evening before and thought it would be good to see it under the morning light so I was up early and headed out at 04:30 am. This was taken 15 minutes before the sunrise with the heather putting on an incredible display of colour beneath a sky full of soft pinks, purples and golds. I love how the layers of heather, gritstone and distant hills lead the eye through this scene. The Peak District really does know how to put on a show when the light is right.
