Yesterday morning I looked outside at 4am to see thick fog so that made my mind up to get out for the sunrise, you never know whether it’s going to be clear higher up until you actually get there. I decided to head up to the top of Winnats Pass and with fingers crossed set off, it was still thick fog as I drove past Speedwell cavern but by half way up the pass I could start to see the outlines of the tops and by the time I’d reached the summit I was above the fog so was delighted that it paid off. This was taken just 7 minutes before the sunrise when the colours were at their best while the rest of the Hope Valley was under a thick blanket of fog.
