Summer morning at Over Owler Tor
Summer morning at Over Owler Tor

The weather forecast looked very promising for the sunrise yesterday morning so I dragged myself out of bed at 04:30 and made my way onto the top of Hathersage Moor in the dark to see what the morning would bring.
I set up my tripod to wait and was immediately set upon by swarms of midges as they decided I was breakfast and spent the next 40 minutes dancing around repeatedly smacking myself while I waited for the sky to lighten.
There was some great clouds around but unfortunately the sun didn't manage to get through them so the sunrise never materialised but there was still some lovely colour around and certainly worth getting eaten alive for.
